GYao Net TVSince launching in April 2005, Usen’s free Gyao Net TV has reached 10 million customers, only a third of those customers are actually watching. ust as private television stations do, Gyao pays for itself through advertising, allowing viewers to watch free of charge. The service regularly broadcasts about 1,500 programs, including dramas, variety shows and movies. Not broadcast, however, are older television shows for which it would be difficult to obtain copyright permission. But it is Net TV’s unique mobility–as it takes less equipment to create a show or cover breaking news–that is contributing to the increase in registered viewers. via Daily Yomiuri Online.
