Google: Mobile Live Traffic Updates

by DJ Neawedde | 25th July 2006

Google Maps MobieToday Google announced updates to two of its most popular mobile products, further demonstrating the company’s commitment to making the mobile phone a more convenient platform for accessing information while on the go. The latest version of Google Maps for mobile, a downloadable Java application, now features live traffic updates and the ability to save favorite locations and driving directions. Highway traffic information is sent to the phone, with road conditions highlighted in three colors: — red for congested, yellow or orange for slowdowns, and green for smooth sailing.

Mobile phone users will now also be able to customize the content that appears on the mobile version of their Google Personalized Homepage. This is exactly the reason why I always love Google and what they are developing - they are constantly innovating and creating extremely useful applications for consumers everywhere. Pushing the boundries of technology is what it’s all about.
