Breakthrough in fight against AIDS : Stoney Brook U and SGI at it again
Working on a Silicon Graphics Altix supercomputer at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, a team of scientists from the Stoney Brook University recently succeeded in a study that will hopefully prove to be a major discovery in the fight against AIDS. Basically, what they have done is created simulations of the process during which proteins are broken up before forming into a mature HIV virus. Hopefully, these simulations will provide scientists the means to study an effective method of disrupting this process with medecine, preventing the HIV virus from forming at all.
