PureVideo searches all major video sites

by DJ Neawedde | 7th October 2006

PureVideo.comCurrently in beta, PureVideo is a new video search engine that finds clips from YouTube, MySpace Video, Grouper, Google Video, Yahoo Video, ESPN, CNN, MSN Videos, Metacafe, Blip.tv and many more popular video sharing sites. PureVideo Networks is the parent of StupidVideos and GrindTV, so as Pete Cashmore of Mashable! states, “it’s interesting that they’re building a search engine that includes competing services.”

Cashmore also writes that “some kind of ‘advanced search’ seems essential - options like restricting your search to a few video sites would improve the service dramatically.” And as Search Engine Journal writes, “PureVideo.com does have the strengths of a top notch design and a very brandable URL. Hopefully they will build upon their strengths as beta testing commences.” Recognizing this is the ‘beta’ version of PureVideo, it is a great concept with much potential here. However, there are many developments and advancements need to take place in order to really give it some zest.

Diversion Media, the parent of Travelistic, is a startup led by Nicholas Butterworth who is the former head of onlinefor MTV. The video sharing arena of the web will be an interesting sector to keep an eye on - considering the recent Google-YouTube acquistion, MySpace Video’s recent attempts to displaceand new video mashup PureVideo’s debut. I believe Travelistic will rise fast and be more than successful due to the site’s very niche content and large target audience.
