LaCie FW800

LaCie’s 2TB Biggest FW800 features four lockable and swappable 500GB SATA drives, and a small LCD status display.

As Reg Hardware tells us, “The system can be set to combine the four drives as a single, large storage space or in RAID 0+1, 5 and 5+spare configurations. The RAID type is set using a switch on the back of the unit and maintained by the machine’s on-board controller.”

The FW800 connects via USB and Firewire, and it will auto-respond to drive, fan and power failures, shutting down if the temperature goes above 55°C.

The 2TB Biggest FW800 is available now for $2,596, and a 1TB version, for $1,628.
