Just after Seagate gave confirmation of there plans to give us a 1TB desktop HDD for the beginning of 2007, Hitachi is doing the same. However, according to Gizmodo, “The company, apparently, can’t keep a promise, since they
originally claimed that it’d have one last year.”
The Hitachi’s 3.5in Desktar 7K1000 will cost $399, 750GB version as well. So IÂ think HItachi will actually deliver this time. Especially since Seagate is putting on serious pressure and has been with their 750GB Barracuda, out since June 2006.

Its about time they started releasing 1TB hard drives. we have been sitting on 750GB for quite a while now.
these companies need to look into optical storage, i hear that they can fit 15TB into an SD card. stop with the old crappy platters and get on with the real stuff.
optical storage heats up a lot less and sure is a lot quieter. when will people learn. platters are very quickly reaching their limits and there is no sense driving a dying technology where it can’t go, it will just become unreliable.
