Alcatel/Lucent has managed to shoot 25.6TB o’ data in 1 second through one fiber strand. Wow. This would allow you to successfully transmit more than 600 DVDs per second. The previous record was 14TB/second in September 2006, and according to BroadbandReports.com, “Back in 2002, the record was 2.56Tbps.” Press release

Meet the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic, a GSM/WCDMA dual mode phone. Twist the 5700 for instant access to music, the 2-megapixel camera with flash, video viewing or video calls. The 5700 also features a 2.2-inch color QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) 16 million color screen, stereo speakers, Bluetooth stereo headphone support, USB 2.0, Infrared, support for Java MIDP 2.0 & CLDC1.1, AND Flash Lite 2.0 support.
Now don’t get me wrong, this is a fantastic device, feature rich indeed. But why do they have to name it ‘XpressMusic’? It really bothers me when a company creates a ‘multimedia’ device and then gives it a ‘uni-media’ name. Is this just bad marketing, lost potential?

Scientist logo.
As the article says though, these are the images that got released to the press. I have to wonder if any NSFW nano-art has yet been made. Knowing what research students are like, I think it’s a safe bet that it has.
