Google Desktop 5 Beta Released

by DJ Neawedde | 7th March 2007

The Google Desktop 5 Beta has just been released, see the post at the Google Blog. The two main improvements in this release are the Desktop Search and Security features.

They’ve also given the sidebar a refreshed look and feel, as it samples the color of your current wallpaper and “fits seamlessly onto your desktop.” Can’t wait for the final version!

    1. Ryan Morrison Says:

I rebuilt my computer yesterday and, because the machine was running well decided to install Google Desktop 5. It’s pretty, it helps with search but the system drain is too great to make it worthwhile for me.

One day I might suddenly decide that these ‘desktop clutter’ programmes are worthwhile - for now I just want a browser, an e-mail client and a torrent app. :)
