Vulcan FlipStart UMPC in action [video]

by DJ Neawedde | 8th March 2007

It’s the Vulcan FlipStart E-1001S, and it’s been making quite a buzz again lately. Features your looking at include: 1.1 GHz Intel Pentium M CPU, 30GB HD, 1024×600 5.6-inch display, 512MB RAM, EVDO / WiFi, touchpad and stylus. My only major complaint about this device is the bulkiness, I think it could slim down a little bit.

It weighs in at about 1.5 pounds with a battery life of approximately 3.5 hours , and you can run Windows Vista or XP. Pricing will start at $2000 USD, but no availability date announced. See it in action below…

Flip start missed the mark as it does not have a touch type keyboard and it is too clunky of a device. I would never buy a thumb input computer that bulky. Since it runs XP it should be more like a pocket notebook with a design more like the old clamshells.
