Nokia 5700 XpressMusic unleashed, needs a name change

by DJ Neawedde | 29th March 2007

Meet the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic, a GSM/WCDMA dual mode phone. Twist the 5700 for instant access to music, the 2-megapixel camera with flash, video viewing or video calls. The 5700 also features a 2.2-inch color QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) 16 million color screen, stereo speakers, Bluetooth stereo headphone support, USB 2.0, Infrared, support for Java MIDP 2.0 & CLDC1.1, AND Flash Lite 2.0 support.

Now don’t get me wrong, this is a fantastic device, feature rich indeed. But why do they have to name it ‘XpressMusic’? It really bothers me when a company creates a ‘multimedia’ device and then gives it a ‘uni-media’ name. Is this just bad marketing, lost potential?
