Microsoft Popfly app creator built on Silverlight

by DJ Neawedde | 18th May 2007

Microsoft has just announced the private beta of Popfly, a web based app creation tool built using their new Silverlight. Now this is really competing with Yahoo! Pipes new mashup creator and any other creator tools like it. However, as TechCrunch says, “Microsoft are the latest entrants in this market, and they have completely leapfrogged every other application we have seen so far.”

Popfly consists of some nice drag n’ drop functionality, and “connecting ‘blocks’ which produce an output,” since the blocks connect a bunch of web service APIs. Popfly is in private beta, and invitations are scarce so you’ll have to get in line to get one.
