Motorola Patents Their New ‘Solar LCD’

by DJ Neawedde | 22nd May 2007

Motorola has just patented their new version of a ’solar LCD’ that lets up to 75% of available light to soak through the display into solar cells below. This will create enough energy to power your mobile device without the need for a power adapter.

This is a big step because the amount of light absorbed in previous such setups was much less. No release dates or production plans have been announced, but this will be exciting once it finds it’s way into our mobile devices.
