5 ‘Nano-Projectors’ Trying To Get In Your Mobile Device

Here are five different versions of what will someday end up in the mass mobile device market. Letting you display your videos, pictures, and slideshows on a wall for all to see at the touch of a button.

Explay oio Nano-Projector

Explay of Israel is showing off their new ‘oio’ and boasting it as the world’s “First Real Pocket Nano-projector.” This is the best looking on we’ve seen yet, but not the smartest. More

Microvision PicoP

Getting the right idea is Microvision, showing off their version of a nano-projector built-in to a Blackberryesque mobile phone. Not a perfected image, but definitely watchable. More

Texas Instruments DLP Mini Projector

This projector by TI has three lasers, a power supply measuring 1.5-inches in length, and a more compact DLP chip. More

Epson/Philips Mini Projector

Philips’ Ujoy lamp-system and Epson’s HTPS 3LCD panel work together here to create their version of a mini projector. More

Fraunhofer Institute Mini Projector


Instead of the conventional microarrays, this German nano-projector contains just a single mirror which can be rotated around two axes. This makes it smaller, lighter and handier than the traditional.
