Boeing is scrapping metal wings for lighter more flexible wings made from carbon fiber for the new 787 Dreamliner. The new ‘flappy wings’ are so flexible and tough that they might be able to bend upward and touch above the plane’s fuselage. Engineers are debating whether further testing to break the wings is necessary. Boeing is scheduled to deliver the first 787 Dreamliner to All Nippon Airlines in May 2008.
